The holiday season has always been referred to as the best time of the year. Even if you are not travelling to visit family and friends in other areas, there are still many activities and fun things to do with your family while at home or in the local Tallahassee community!
The best gift is creating memories with family.
The holiday season is a special time of year and by doing some of these activities it can help bring families together as they celebrate!
For instance, Dorothy B. Oven Park transformed itself into a holiday drive-thru experience! From the comfort and safety of your own vehicle, families can drive slowly through the winding, sparkling path of Dorothy B. Oven Park, which is located at 3205 Thomasville Road. On all sides of the magical route, there are spectacular light displays that bring holiday themes and characters to life. Families can blast Christmas music in their cars as they drive through this spectacular Christmas wonderland of 150,000 twinkling lights! The event is free and a fantastic way to get out of your home to view a beautiful light display!

If you are looking to stay at home and do activities, do not worry there are plenty! Hands down, one of my favorite holiday traditions is baking cookies with my family. I baked Christmas cookies with my grandma every year growing up, and I can’t wait to continue this tradition with my mom and sister this year. The process of baking them together with your family makes such wonderful memories, too. It's a timeless joy to pass down from generation to generation, and getting to decorate them however you want is fun and great for kids. Buying different colored sprinkles or icings and letting your children decorate them as they please will be a fun activity for the whole family!
While decorating cookies or building gingerbread houses you could also throw on a holiday classic on the TV! There are a lot of Christmas movies for both adults and kids to enjoy! A few of my favorite Christmas movies are Elf, The Grinch That Stole Christmas, The Santa Clause series, and The Polar Express. Introducing the magic of Christmas to your children can be displayed through these movies! They will enjoy seeing Santa’s workshop and the stories of Buddy the Elf.
